Goodyear Lake Home Lost (and Found)
Bruce Shultis found this oriole's nest on the ground under our cherry tree after a strong wind attacked it. The cherry tree has leaves that hang down in clusters which hide the the oriole's unique nest very effectively. This year's birds decided to have a modern home and decorated it in blue from a plastic tarpaulin lying nearby.
As the nest was nearly intact, we decided to attache it to a sturdy branch and give it to a couple of nephews for "show and tell" in elementary school.
